Job Description:

The Utility Camera Van (CCTV) Operator – Class 1 is responsible for performing physically demanding tasks in support of daily sewer inspection and maintenance operations. This role involves the setup, operation, and breakdown of CCTV inspection equipment used to assess sewer lines, laterals, interceptors, lift stations, and cleanouts. The operator plays a key role in ensuring the integrity and functionality of wastewater infrastructure through accurate inspection and documentation.

This position requires a combination of technical proficiency, manual labor, and adherence to safety protocols. The operator must be capable of operating machinery safely and efficiently under the guidance of a Foreman or Superintendent.

Job Details:
  • Equipment Setup & Operation: Prepare and operate sewer cleaning and CCTV inspection equipment, including manhole access and deployment of cameras.
  • Crew Leadership: Train and mentor laborers assigned to the crew, promoting skill development and safety awareness.
  • Tool & Equipment Management: Ensure proper use of hoses, attachments, and other tools; maintain and clean equipment regularly.
  • Documentation: Accurately record footage lengths and inspection data for each line serviced.
  • Safety Compliance: Identify and mitigate potential hazards such as electrical lines, traffic, and environmental risks; ensure all crew members follow safety protocols.
  • Emergency Response: Safely shut down operations in the event of an emergency.
  • Inventory & Preparation: Stock necessary tools and supplies for daily tasks.
  • Cross-Training: Participate in cross-training for water, wastewater, and reclaimed water systems to support operational flexibility.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other related tasks as assigned by supervision.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution.

Licenses & Certifications

Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
PACP (Pipeline Assessment Certification Program) or MACP (Manhole Assessment Certification Program) certification preferred; must be obtained within 90 days of employment if not already held.
