Iron Woman was contracted by Hensel-Phelps to provide installation of two miles of deep sanitary sewer (30’) in heavy groundwater and more than two miles of new water lines that required close coordination with the project storm water system installation. The two-mile storm package included large runs of various sizes and a large drainage channel comprised of soil rip rap, large boulder drops, hand sculpted spillways and swirlbays.

This multi-jurisdictional project required effective communication to coordinate the efforts of various districts, agencies and subcontractors engaged in the work. On a technical basis, notable challenges included the installation of a deep sanitary sewer line with a sanitary force main in heavy groundwater requiring significant dewatering activities.

Peña Station NEXT is one part of a 7,500-acre strategic development surrounding the Denver International Airport (DIA). This 400-acre development is slated for an eight city block mixed-use neighborhood includes the recently completed Downtown Denver – DIA rail line that serves as its western boundary. Sustainability is a focus on this project from the infrastructure build-out to the development of advanced smart-city technology throughout; one reason it will be the new headquarters for Panasonic Enterprise Solutions Division.
